The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has said that robust multi-stakeholder engagement is critical to accelerating rapid connectivity in the country.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, has reiterated the importance of collective efforts by all stakeholders toward enhancing the security of cyberspace for Nigerians, who now depend increasingly on digital tools and platforms to carry out their daily activities.

The commitment of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) to stop the use of unregistered SIM cards to perpetrate cybercrime and other criminal activities in the country is yielding results.
The Commission, through concerted enforcement efforts with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), as well as the Department of State Services (DSS), has secured court convictions for SIM card related offences.

Subscriptions to broadband or high-speed Internet services in Nigeria have increased significantly to a peak of 82.7 million as at the end of August, 2020, according to the Nigerian Communications Commission.
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, disclosed this while speaking at a two-day first virtual Nigeria Innovation Summit (NIS) 2020 organised by InnovationHub Africa, which started on Tuesday, September 5, 2020.
