The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) is the Federal Government agency responsible for regulating the communications industry in Nigeria. As a commitment to its mandate as stipulated in the Nigerian Communications Act 2003, Section 1(d-f), the Nigeria Office for Developing the Indigenous Telecom Sector (NODITS) was established in July 2021, to vigorously pursue the implementation of the National Policy on the Promotion and Implementation of Indigenous Contents in the Telecommunications Sector (NPPIC) and to project the achievements of indigenous contents by government for the sector, amongst others.
To achieve these laudable objectives, NODITS targets to drive an all-inclusive participation of stakeholders and identify challenges and opportunities for strategic planning and enhanced performance.

The elusive national integration has become a worrisome subject to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, for which it has mapped out a strategy for a multi-ethnic and multi-sectoral strategy to be consummated through a National Integration Summit slated for August this year.
After a nationwide consultation with different interest groups, a four-man council team of the institute, led by Dr. Ike Neliaku on behalf of President of the Institute, Mukhtar Sirajo, visited the Head Office of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), to intimate the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Commission, Prof. Umar Danbatta, about the steps already taken to ensure that the unique summit comes to fruition.

After 17 years of meritorious service, former Director of Spectrum Administration Department of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Engr. Oluwatoyin Asaju, has bowed out of the regulatory body, with encomiums from management and industry experts, after turning 60.
Engr. Asaju who led the team that managed the 3.5Ghz Band Auction process that attracted fame and fortune to the Federal Government through the transparent auction process for the sale of the 5G licenses conducted by the Commission, was hosted to a valedictory session to celebrate his performance, by the leadership and staff of the Commission.

The Nigerian Communications Commission’s support for sports development, with particular reference to the popular NCC sponsored tennis championship for youth, dominated discussions at the launch of a book on sports in Nigeria in Lagos at the weekend.
At the launch of the book titled ‘Sport in Nigeria: Going Round in Circles”, - authored by Sports Administrator, Godwin Kienka, at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Race Course, Onikan, Lagos, where the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, was the Guest of Honour, the Commission was acknowledged as a patriotic corporate institution that has supported sports in Nigeria at the grass roots.

Nigeria’s grass root communities and the underserved population of the country will not be left out of the national broadband plan when the implementation comes to fruition.
Speaking in Lagos at a session which discussed the critical issue of financial inclusion expected to be facilitated by a robust infrastructure deployment for broadband availability, the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, said the Commission is mindful of the infrastructure gaps in the country and therefore, committed to driving national digital economy to the grassroots.
